SnapQuiz (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is an educational application designed to help users turn photographed worksheets into interactive quizzes. SnapQuiz can recognize text from worksheet images, reconstruct multiple-choice and True/False questions, allow users to answer them on their device, and optionally use an online AI service to help check answers.
We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how information is handled when you use SnapQuiz.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed, why it is processed, when information may leave your device, and the choices available to you.
1. Information SnapQuiz Processes
SnapQuiz may process the following types of information when you use the app.
Worksheet Images
Users may select or capture an image containing educational material, such as a worksheet, reading passage, multiple-choice exercise, or True/False exercise.
The image is used to recognize and reconstruct the educational content requested by the user.
SnapQuiz is intended for educational documents. Users should avoid submitting images containing sensitive personal information or content unrelated to the educational purpose of the app.
Recognized Text
SnapQuiz uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to extract text from worksheet images.
Recognized text may include:
- reading passages;
- questions;
- answer choices;
- True/False statements; and
- other educational text visible in the selected image.
OCR processing is primarily performed to transform a photographed worksheet into an interactive quiz.
Quiz Responses
While completing a quiz, SnapQuiz processes the answers selected or entered by the user.
These responses are used to:
- track quiz progress;
- calculate results when an answer key is available;
- display correct and incorrect responses;
- allow users to review their answers; and
- support optional online answer checking.
SnapQuiz does not require users to create an account to complete quizzes.
2. On-Device OCR Processing
SnapQuiz uses Google ML Kit text recognition technology to recognize text in worksheet images.
Where supported by the implementation, OCR processing occurs on the user’s device. This allows SnapQuiz to recognize educational text without requiring every worksheet image to be uploaded to a SnapQuiz server.
SnapQuiz does not operate its own cloud storage service for storing users’ worksheet photographs.
However, other services installed on the user’s device, operating system features, backup services, or third-party services may process information independently according to their own privacy policies.
3. Optional AI Answer Checking
SnapQuiz includes an optional online feature that can help check quiz answers using artificial intelligence.
This feature requires an Internet connection.
When the user chooses to use online AI answer checking, relevant educational content may be transmitted to an external AI service. This may include:
- recognized worksheet text;
- questions;
- answer choices;
- reading passages where necessary to determine an answer; and
- the user’s selected or entered answers.
This information is transmitted only as needed to perform the requested online answer-checking function.
SnapQuiz currently uses Google Gemini technology for this optional AI functionality.
Users who do not want educational content transmitted to an online AI service can continue using supported offline features without selecting the online answer-checking option.
AI-generated results may contain errors. SnapQuiz should be used as a learning and review tool and should not be treated as an authoritative grading system or a replacement for teachers, schools, or official answer keys.
4. Internet Connection
An Internet connection is not required for every SnapQuiz feature.
Functions such as supported OCR processing and quiz interaction may operate locally on the device.
An Internet connection may be required for features including:
- optional AI answer checking;
- advertising services, when enabled;
- service-related network operations; and
- other online features that may be introduced in future versions.
5. Advertising
SnapQuiz may display advertisements through Google AdMob.
Advertising services may process certain information automatically in order to provide, deliver, measure, secure, and improve advertising.
Depending on the user’s region, device configuration, consent choices, age-related settings, and applicable laws, information processed by advertising services may include technical information such as:
- device information;
- advertising identifiers, where permitted;
- IP address;
- approximate location derived from technical information;
- app interactions;
- advertising interactions;
- diagnostic information; and
- other information required to provide and measure advertisements.
SnapQuiz does not sell users’ worksheet content to advertisers.
Advertising providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.
Where required by applicable law, appropriate consent or privacy choices will be provided before certain advertising technologies are used.
6. Children’s Privacy and Educational Use
SnapQuiz is an educational tool and may be useful to students, teachers, parents, and other learners.
We recognize that educational applications may be used by younger users. We therefore aim to minimize the amount of personal information required to use the core functionality of SnapQuiz.
SnapQuiz does not require a user account for its basic quiz functionality and users should not intentionally enter personal or sensitive information into worksheets submitted to the app.
Where advertising or third-party services are used, SnapQuiz will seek to configure those services in accordance with applicable Google Play policies and applicable requirements concerning younger users.
Parents, guardians, and teachers should supervise younger users when appropriate and should avoid allowing children to submit documents containing unnecessary personal information.
7. Personal Information
SnapQuiz’s core quiz functionality does not require users to provide information such as:
- full name;
- home address;
- telephone number;
- school account;
- social media account; or
- personal profile.
Users should not photograph or submit documents containing sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and appropriate for their intended educational use.
8. Account Information
SnapQuiz currently does not require users to register or create a SnapQuiz account to access its basic functionality.
Because there is no SnapQuiz user account required for these features, we do not collect usernames or passwords for a SnapQuiz account.
If account functionality is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
9. Data Storage and Retention
SnapQuiz may temporarily or locally store information necessary for app functionality, such as quiz state or saved responses.
Locally stored information generally remains under the control of the user’s device and may be removed when the user clears the application’s data or uninstalls the app, subject to Android operating system behavior and any device backup settings.
For information transmitted to third-party services such as Google services, retention and processing practices may be governed by the policies and terms of those service providers.
SnapQuiz does not intentionally maintain a separate developer-operated database containing users’ worksheet photographs or quiz histories unless explicitly stated in a future version of this Privacy Policy.
10. Data Sharing
SnapQuiz does not sell users’ personal information.
Information may be transmitted to third-party service providers when necessary to provide features requested by the user or operate the app.
Examples may include:
Google ML Kit — used for text recognition functionality.
Google Gemini — used when the user voluntarily requests online AI-assisted answer checking.
Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads — used to provide advertising when advertising is enabled in the app.
These services may process data according to their respective privacy policies and terms.
We may also disclose information when required by applicable law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
11. Permissions
SnapQuiz requests only permissions considered necessary for its functionality.
Depending on the Android version and features used, these may include Internet and network-state access.
Photo or camera-related access may also be requested when necessary for users to select or capture worksheet images, subject to Android’s permission and media access systems.
Permission requests may change as Android and SnapQuiz evolve.
Users can manage application permissions through their Android device settings.
12. Security
We take reasonable steps to design SnapQuiz in a way that limits unnecessary collection and transmission of user information.
However, no electronic transmission, mobile application, or Internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
Users should avoid submitting highly sensitive, confidential, financial, medical, authentication, or personally identifying information through educational worksheets processed by SnapQuiz.
13. Third-Party Services
SnapQuiz may use services provided by third parties, including Google.
These third parties maintain their own privacy policies and data-processing practices.
Users are encouraged to review Google’s privacy information and the privacy information of relevant third-party services for additional details regarding their processing practices.
14. User Choices
Users can control certain processing activities by choosing which SnapQuiz features to use.
For example, users may:
- choose which worksheet images to process;
- review recognized text before continuing where the app provides this option;
- avoid using optional online AI answer checking;
- manage Android permissions through device settings;
- manage applicable advertising/privacy choices when provided; and
- uninstall SnapQuiz to remove the application and locally stored app data, subject to device and backup behavior.
15. International Processing
Some third-party services used by SnapQuiz may process information on servers located outside the user’s country or region.
Where applicable, those service providers are responsible for handling information according to their privacy policies and applicable legal requirements.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when SnapQuiz changes, when new functionality is introduced, when third-party services change, or when legal or Google Play requirements require an update.
When changes are made, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.
Users are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
